News from recent Apple WWDC 2014: apparently Apple added a new functionality in iOS 8 that shows contextually relevant App suggestions on the bottom left hand side of your locked iPhone screen; as a matter of fact, “contextually relevant” means “according to your location”.
Suggestions involve both Apps already installed on the device and “new” Apps – that is, Apps unfamiliar to the user, easily downloadable from the App Store.
An example: while you are shopping in a Walmart store, a suggestion to run or install the Walmart App timely appears on your iPhone lock screen.
How is location determined by your iPhone? …definitely through geolocation.
GPS, cell-tower triangulation, iBeacons?
