Apple’s iPhone was the first smartphone that could efficiently/effectively download applications and execute them – Nokia and Blackberry couldn’t, that’s why they (almost) disappeared.
Apple TV is the first TV/set-top box that (as far as we know) can efficiently/effectively download applications and execute them – the story (…a hell of an interesting story!!!) apparently repeats itself.
What kind of applications will run on your TV?
b) info-centered apps (weather forecasts, TV-guides, etc.)
c) “commerce” applications
I work in Retail, so I’m very interested in the last category above, “commerce” applications – in particular I think of Apple TV apps that will 1) engage users in their homes 2) have the users’ credit-cards preloaded (…reminder: today Apple’s AppStore has my credit-card number and those of millions of other people…).
…it’s hot, isn’t it??!!
I mean, bringing a customized shopping-experience to the TV screen is a marketer’s dream come true…!
What do you think…?
PS: …is it possible to have TV ads linking to Apple TV apps…? (…please, tell me it is…!!)
